Recommended protocol
BIAS recommends IMAP for most users.
IMAP synchronizes your mailbox across multiple devices.
Typical secure configuration:
Username:
Your full email address
Password:
Your mailbox password
Incoming protocol:
IMAP
IMAP encryption:
SSL/TLS
Typical IMAP port:
993
Outgoing protocol:
SMTP
SMTP authentication:
Required
Typical secure SMTP ports:
465 using SSL/TLS
587 using STARTTLSPOP3
POP3 downloads mail to a device and may not provide the same multi-device synchronization experience as IMAP.
Use POP3 only when there is a specific requirement.
Server names
Do not assume the incoming or outgoing server is the same for every BIAS customer.
Use the hostnames shown in:
cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices
or obtain the correct settings from BIAS Support.
